Founded in 1957, the Independent Electrical Contractors, Inc. is a trade association for merit shop electrical and systems contractors. IEC believes in developing and fostering a stronger economy through the level of quality and services our members provide to the industry.

Be aware, this process has THREE DISTINCT STEPS and is NOT AUTOMATIC.
The entire process may take several days with correspondence and instructions between each step.
A day or so after submitting your information and after you pay your $10 fee, we will send instructions for you to complete the NEXT STEP.

IEC Education requires proof of math competency before starting 1A course.
Math competency can be shown via college transcript of a passing math course, equivalent placement test from a college or university, a college or university diploma, an ACT score of 19 or higher on the math section, or you can take our placement test.
We offer an online placement test which must be passed with a score of 75% or better.
There is a small fee of $10 to take the online test.
Basic Algebra - solve for x, substitute values in equations, create equations from word problems.
In addition to the book kit, you will also need access to the National Electric Code (NEC Code book).
We also recommend that you get the Ugly's reference book, since these two items can be used on your Utah Journeyman tests.
THE NEC and UGLY's are NOT INCLUDED with the book kit.
The Bay Colony Elementary school print set will be used in 2nd, 3rd and 4th year curriculum.
The majority of the use of the prints will be in 2B semester and 3A semester.
We recommend the prints be purchased with the 2nd year book kit.
