Hartford Electricians Jatc
We are the men and women of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 35. We are two thousand people who have earned our living and raised our families by working in the unionized electrical construction, maintenance, and telecommunications industries in Connecticut. We are your Sunday school teachers, your volunteer firemen, your civic leaders - we are the fabric of Connecticut.

Local 35 has been in Hartford since 1913. We have many faces. Sometimes we are the third generation of craftsman whose forefathers founded our local. Sometimes we are youth learning a new trade and sometimes we are a newly organized electrician. We have many faces - but one voice. We pride ourselves on being the finest craftspeople in the world.

We are committed to ongoing training to keep our skills on the razor's edge of the newest technology as well as passing down our knowledge to the next generation of electricians. We stand for decent wages and innovative benefits so that our members can live the American Dream.
Services
These ten men joined together to receive fair wages, ensure job safety and provide trained workers in the electrical industry.
From the beginning, Local 35 provided the opportunity to its members to live the American dream - decent pay and benefits so our members could raise a family with the respect and dignity every American deserves.
There are currently four IBEW Inside Construction Locals serving Connecticut.
They are Local 35, Hartford; Local 90, New Haven; Local 488, Bridgeport; and Local 3, New York.
Founded around the turn of the 20th century in 1891 as a part of the AFL, The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) emerged out of simply horrid working conditions for electrical workers.
At the time of their founding, being an electrical worker meant making about $10 a week, low even for the era and a death/injury rate that was double other industrial jobs.
At one point a staggering 1 out of 2 linemen and wiremen died on the job in certain cities.
Thus the IBEW was largely founded to give these workers the working conditions that all Americans today would consider a fundamental human right.
A common, prevailing notion in the Connecticut construction industry is that it costs more to work with organized electricians or electrical contractors.
Connecticut's electrical customers and business owners are increasingly recognizing this as a myth.
Sure, you can always go lowest dollar on anything in life.
However, it is also always true that you get what you pay for.
Going for the lowest bottom dollar in any building carries risks, sometimes serious ones.
In a situation where an electrician or electrical shop is "non-affiliated, " workers may often have less training, the company may be less stable, and this poses the risk of greater work place and job site uncertainty and accident risk.
The Code of Excellence is not only about an IBEW job built right the first time, on schedule and under budget; it is also about pride in IBEW membership and craftsmanship and leaving a lasting impression of quality workmanship with the customer.
Come to work on time, fit for duty and ready to work.
Obey recognized customer and employer work rules.
